Difficult Conversations: Addressing anti-Black biases in communities of color

Discussions of race in the United States can often exist in a binary of Black or White. When it comes to the work of dismantling racism, the needs and responsibilities of non-Black people of color (Asian, Latinx, Middle Eastern, Indigenous, and multiracial people who do not also identify as Black) require their own focus and guidance for solidarity. Join scholar-practitioner Dr. Liza Talusan for an interactive workshop on the necessary anti-racism work for non-Black people of color as well as white allies to understand and address anti-Black attitudes and behaviors in their families and communities.

May 20th from 7:00-8:00pm
Engaging Asian/Americans in Justice

The history and activism of Asian Americans is a complex experience of both inclusion and exclusion in racial justice.

During this global pandemic of COVID-19, violence against individuals of Asian heritage has increased. Asian American racism and xenophobia is not a new phenomenon. It has been part of American history for centuries, and we have seen it manifested against different Asian/American communities in many ways over the years.

Together, we will explore our own individual journeys towards racial justice and our professional journeys of supporting these issues at our schools and in our communities.
